About this activity
Lalashan Forest Recreation Area Tickets Lalashan National Forest Recreation Area is located in the Baling area of Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, on the Northern Cross-Island Highway. The Atayal tribe of Baling is named "Balung," which means "cypress" or "giant fallen wood." "Lala" is the transliteration of the Atayal word "R'ra," meaning "beautiful," "amazing," or "overlooking and guarding." It is said that this area was where the tribesmen watched for prey and defended against foreign enemies, and that the tribesmen who came here were amazed and felt good, which is enough to show that this area has abundant cypress and ecological resources. Cypress trees are only found in the cloud and mist zones of North America, Japan, and Taiwan in the world. Therefore, the cypress forest of Lalashan is very precious. Located in the fog forest zone, the vegetation classification belongs to the original coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest, which completely preserves the precious giant cypress tree group created by the natural environment for thousands of years. It is also an important habitat for wild animals and plants such as the Formosan blue magpie, the yellow-bellied flycatcher, and the Formosan serow. It is a highly representative forest ecosystem in the northern mid-altitude mountains and has rich natural and cultural characteristics.
