About this activity

The Prince Kung Mansion boasts a design that embodies the characteristics of Chinese gardens and the features of princely architecture, resulting in a magnificent and opulent aesthetic. Its serene courtyards and winding paths create a picturesque landscape reminiscent of the Rongguo Mansion and Grand View Garden depicted in "Dream of the Red Chamber." According to a Redology scholar, the Prince Kung Mansion served as a place where Cao Xueqin, the author of "Dream of the Red Chamber," experienced life and gathered material for his novel. The garden, on the other hand, was consciously designed and built by Prince Kung Yixin, who was an avid reader of "Dream of the Red Chamber," in accordance with the Grand View Garden. There are morning and afternoon sessions, and private English tours are also available, ensuring a barrier-free and enjoyable tour of the mansion.
